Sound Update = Choppy Graphics
Hi All,
Does anyone have any recent information regarding the issue with choppy graphical performance after the sound engine update that took place earlier this year?
I just discovered this board and thankfully was relieved to see that many other players are experiencing the same problem as me. That is, my framerates start out flawlessly (100fps and higher) and then just get progressively worse until it's so choppy as to be almost unplayable. I see even Gail Grey has acknowledged this as a problem but still no fix .
Disabling sound (using the -nosound) switch fixes the problem, but the game just isn't much fun without sound. The best fix for me was to turn off hardware acceleration in the Windows sound control panel and turn the in-game sound sliders all the way down. At least now I have sound, although it's rather poor quality at best.
I sent in a trouble ticket today (not sure what that's going to amount to). It's frustrating and is beginning to wear down my desire to continue playing as it drags on. I really wish they (Anet) would concentrate more on fixing issues like this and less on interface bling and the silly holiday stuff.
If I hear anything relevant back from Anet, I'll be sure to post it here.
Regards,
NP
